PASTORAL ASSISTANT
Located in the busy commercial district of North Sydney, St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church has been a focal point for Christian worship on the North Shore for almost 170 years. With a portfolio of heritage buildings, commercial properties and ambitious plans for future growth, St. Peter’s is looking to further expand its ministry and pastoral activities, particularly with regard to children. A multi-national and multicultural congregation, drawn, not only from Australia, but from as far as Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the United States and Hungary, make St. Peter’s a dynamic and vibrant environment in which to carry out God’s work. A new Sunday School room has been erected and the Session has requested the Committee of Management to explore additional development opportunities. St. Peter’s is linked with the Taylor Memorial Presbyterian Church in the quiet residential North Shore suburb of Greenwich, which has enjoyed some growth in recent years.
Responsible for the Sunday School, you will plan lessons, teach and drive the growth of this important part of the Church’s ministry. In addition, you will assist with outreach to, and liaison with, local schools, mothers’ groups and other relevant organizations in the context of Christian education and proclaiming the Gospel. You will work closely with the Minister, the Rev. Dr. Paul Logan, who has been minister at St. Peter’s for 14 years and with his assistant minister, Dr. Steven Pym, who is responsible for Greenwich.
A committed Christian, committed to working with children, you will have qualifications in teaching or childcare or may be working towards such qualifications. Alternatively, you will have experience of working with children, or young people, in some aspect of youth work such as Scouts, Guides or similar organizations.
The position is available on either a full-time or a part-time basis.

ORGANIST
An organist is required for St. Peter’s Church for the morning service at 10a.m. each Sunday and special Easter and Christmas services.
A 2 manual mechanical action pipe organ erected in the Church in 1885 and well maintained is used for the Sunday morning services, weddings, funerals and other special services. There is also a Kawai grand piano in the Church.
The organist is expected to arrange soloists for the morning services and also to conduct a small singing group for some services.
