Sermons
Go to st-helens.org.uk (St Helen’s London)
Enter Resources – “Marriage” and there is a wealth of excellent sermons from their “Investing in Marriage” Day.

Similarly there is excellent material at st-thomas.org.au (St Thomas Anglican North Sydney)

You can hear what we come up with in June/July at cpc.org.au (Chinese Presbyterian Church)

www.bpc.org.au is the website of Bundoora Presbyterian Church in Melbourne – excellent material on family life from Proverbs.

Then there are the bible commentaries
Here are a selection from the books you may be preaching:

Genesis:
Derek Kidner Tyndale series
Gordon Wenham Word Biblical series
Bruce Waltke Zondervan

Proverbs:
Derek Kidner Tyndale
Bruce Waltke New International
Matthew Henry really insightful on individual proverbs

Matthew:
R T France Tyndale
William Hendriksen Banner of Truth
D A Carson Expositor Bible Commentary

Ephesians:
Peter O’Brien Pillar
Francis Foulkes Tyndale

Colossians:
Douglas Moo Pillar
R C Lucas BST
Peter O’Brien Word

Our pastoral team is writing an introductory note to the congregation about the two central convictions behind the series:

That God is creator, marriage and sex are both His idea first and that a careful and prayerful reading of the Bible will disclose His mind about these matters.

The series title will be:

Getting Ready for the Plebiscite

Sermon 1: What God says about marriage. (Genesis 2:19 – 25 Matthew 19:1 – 12, Ephesians 5:22 – 33)

Sermon 2: What God says about sex. Song of Solomon

Sermon 3: What God says about sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:9 – 20)

Sermon 4: What God says about homosexuality (Leviticus 18 and Romans 1)

Sermon 5: What God says about equality and submission (Ephesians 5 and 1 Peter 2)

PS. If the plebiscite doesn’t happen, no matter, it is a helpful series anyway.

“God created marriage. No government, sub-committee envisioned it. No social organisation
developed it. Marriage was conceived and born in the mind of God.”  Max Lucado
